I was interested in developing my X-STUDIO project during this course. However, with time it developed into something else called What's In Your Bag?. It investigates the cultural
I want to design bags that communicate with each other. The bags are friends. There are 100 different bags, each one representing a tube station from Stockholm's underground.
The initial idea for distributing the bags was to randomly place them in people's mailboxes that is situated close to the tube stations. However, this might change. The bags are apart of a game that encourages people to interact with strangers and to travel to the different stations.
When the bags come in a close range of eachother they would talk to each other, through sound. They incoporate some type of rfid technology, which also make it possible to track the bags by using the SL ticket machines. (This must be negotiated with SL, Stockholms Transport System).
During this course I designed a project idea called X-STUDIO.
X-STUDIO is a
studio, shop, office, meeting place, gallery and workshop all in one. The studio would be managed by several people who all carry knowledge
and experiences from different disciplines, but who work within design.
They would strive to focus on social, environmental and service design
as it is what they feel to be the most important and necessary. The
designers would be there to inspire others and available to give help
with various design issues.
